The Process
Every piece begins by hand and unfolds over time. From the first sketch to the final firing, our process is slow, intentional, and rooted in craftsmanship. Nothing is rushed, each step allows the clay to guide the final form.
1. From Idea to Clay
The process starts with an idea — a form I want to make, a surface I want to explore. Years of experience allow me to sit down at the wheel and throw a mug or vase with ease because the clay communicates with me. Surface decoration begins with handmade stamps designed and carved by hand in the studio, drawn from the shapes, shadows, and natural forms of the world around us.
2. Thrown by Hand
Most pieces are formed on the potter’s wheel, shaped slowly and with purpose. This stage defines the form, weight, balance of each piece and details that determine how it will feel in your hands and function in daily use.
3. Surface & Detail
Once shaped, pieces are decorated using small handmade stamps designed and created in house. Each impression is applied one at a time, giving the surface subtle texture and individuality. No two pieces are ever exactly the same.
4. Firing & Glazing
After drying, each piece is bisque fired to strengthen the clay. Glazes mixed by hand are then applied, followed by a second firing that brings depth, color, and durability to the final piece.
5. Time & Patience
From initial concept to finished work, some pieces, especially those in the signature collection take months to complete. This time allows for refinement, testing, and intention in every detail.
6. Finished to Be Used
The final result is functional pottery designed to be used every day. Each piece carries the marks of the process, subtle variations that reflect the hand, time, and care behind its creation.
