Class Description

Beginner Pottery: An 8-Week Journey into Clay A Foundational Wheel Throwing Class Have you ever wondered what it feels like to sit at the wheel and work with clay? This 8-week beginner wheel-throwing class is a supportive introduction to pottery, offering hands-on instruction and plenty of time to explore the process from raw clay to finished work. No experience needed—this class is designed as a welcoming entry into the world of pottery. Many students discover it’s surprisingly addictive in the best way. $550 per student Class limited to 6 students Available Class Dates • April 6 – May 25 | Mondays, 6–8:30 PM • June 1 – July 20 | Mondays, 6–8:30 PM • August 11 – September 29 | Tuesdays, 6–8:30 PM What This Class Is About This class focuses on fundamentals—learning how clay behaves on the wheel and how your hands guide it. We move at a comfortable pace, building skill week by week so confidence grows naturally. What You’ll Learn Weeks 1–5: Getting Comfortable at the Wheel • Wedging and centering clay • Learning the rhythm of the wheel • Throwing simple forms like bowls and vases • Building consistency and control Week 6: Refining & Finishing • Trimming and refining your work • Preparing pieces for glazing Week 7: Glazing Day • Creating a glaze plan • Applying glazes and using wax resist • Learning how kilns are loaded and fired Week 8: The Big Reveal • Unloading the kiln • Seeing your finished pottery for the first time • Celebrating work you made from start to finish Small Class, Real Support With only 6 students, you’ll receive hands-on guidance and individualized instruction every week. There’s time for questions, troubleshooting, and real learning. Studio Access Students receive weekend studio access (Fri–Mon, 12–5 PM) for extra practice and skill-building outside of class. What’s Included • 25 lbs of clay • Glazes and firings • Instruction and demonstrations Students must purchase their own basic pottery tools. A supply list will be emailed prior to class. GLOBAL POLICIES (APPLY TO ALL CLASSES UNLESS NOTED) Capacity • All classes are limited to 6 students Tools Policy (IMPORTANT) • Students must bring their own pottery tools for all classes except 4-Week BYOB classes • A required tool list will be emailed upon registration • Students may optionally purchase a curated tool kit from the studio:  Basic Tool Kit – $50  Basic Plus Tool Kit – $75 • Tool kits are optional add-ons and not included in class tuition Materials • Clay, glazes, and firings are included unless otherwise noted Studio Access • Weekend studio access is included for most multi-week classes and is specified per class
